Hike in world demand for cotton seen resulting in higher prices.

New York Cotton Exchange staff economist Tim Barry predicted that increased worldwide demands for cotton through 2005 could cause dramatic increases in the already high cotton prices, in remarks at the Textile Analysts Group. He attributed the increased demand to largely to economic growth in Far Eastern and Middle Eastern countries and to Cotton Inc's marketing campaign. He also said that the yield of such cotton-producing countries as India and China may have been overestimated.
